Brakes make entire vehicle shudder strongly if used in mountainous regions where higher use rates cause the system to over heat. Toyota of easily claims that as a tsb only, they are not required to do out-of-warranty repairs. I noticed the problems within warranty but did not make a report to my dealer. I asked if they would sell me the parts at cost. No. I emailed toyota national customer service and asked the same…

I have a 2000 toyota tundra. From day one the brakes have had a brake vibration problem. I have had my truck worked on five times and the problem has not been corrected. Looking on the internet i found this is a design problem with this model of truck and a recall is in order. The brake calipers are undersized. It feels like the rotors are warped but this is not the problem. Please advise me on what options i have.…

Dt: the contact stated there was vibration in the front brakes. The dealership found tsb 10003954 concerning the front brakes. The dealership replaced the calipers, front pads, back plates, lines, wheel bearings, and rear brake drums. They have been replaced multiple times at an independent mechanic. The root cause of the brake vibration was not known at this time. *ak updated 1/19/2006 - *nm

I have a 2000 toyota tundra which has had numerous problems with the front and rear brakes. The front brakes were "repaired" within the first 4,000 miles of driving but the front disc rotors continue to warp within 10-15,000 miles of additional "repairs". The rear brakes are frequently bathed in oil from leaking rear-ed seals caused, i'm told, by plugged rear-end vents. The vent has been cleaned or replaced and the…

Bad vibration (shudder) on applying brakes. Since this occurs at no other time, it appears to be a front brake problem. The dealer installed the toyota tsb "fix" for this in october 2002, but the truck continues to exhibit unsafe braking behavior. *****dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****769321. *ak

It has long been a known fact that the older tundras have had severe braking problems with warping rotors causing extreme vibrations. Nothing has been done by either toyota, or the nhtsa. Why? Every few thousand miles, i have to either replace or have the rotors turned. The truck gets unsafe and dangerous to drive because of excessive vibrations in the front end. Everyone knows why this happens- heat buildup because…
